Thanksgiving

The Fitt's Family of 4 decided to have a Thanksgiving away from home this year...just the 4 of us. And it was wonderful!!! We (I) decided that after almost 10 years of hosting/cooking Thanksgiving dinner, we were going to let someone else have the honors. That would be Callaway Gardens!!!

We went over to Pine Mountain, Georgia Wednesday afternoon. Got there in time to get settled in our room at the Callaway Garden Inn (next time we will spend a little more money to have a little more room in the cabins), eat some dinner and then it was off to the Fantasy in Lights. It was drizzling a little bit but not too bad. The boys got to see Santa in the Christmas Village and tell him what they wanted for Christmas. We got a little Christmas shopping done before our tram left the station. At 8:00, we loaded onto our tram and drove through the lights in the park. It was about an hour long. Precious little Jack sang all of the Christmas carols that he knew. It was too cute! Most of the words were not correct, but I loved every bit of it!!

After the tram ride, we had hot cocoa on the beach and watched the nativity story in lights over the water. It was beautiful. We then headed back to our cozy little hotel room to get some sleep.

Thursday morning we woke up late and lazed around watching the Thanksgiving Day parade. On my bucket list is to see the parade in person. Maybe in the next few years while the kids are still young. We had lunch reservations at 12:30 at the Lodge and Spa. We had the most wonderful Thanksgiving feast you could have - and I didn't have to cook it!!! Precious Mason decided that we needed to go around the table and tell 2 things (only 2 things - he would cut you off if you went further than the 2) that we are thankful for. I wish I could remember what the boys said... Once we were all fat and happy, we walked around a bit and then hit the road to get back to Bham to pick up Dan's friend from the airport who had flown in to go to the Auburn Alabama game the next day.

In honor of Thanksgiving, let me leave you with my list of things I am thankful for:

I took Friday off of work so that I could go and watch Mason's Boosterthon Fun Run. Dan always gets to go watch and I have not been able to swing it in the past, so I was really looking forward to it. They had the fun run at 8:00am Friday morning where the temps were in the 40s...COLD! It was also "Crazy Hair" day for Mason's class. He had me give him a mohawk and spray paint it blue and green.

Now, onto the USS Alabama. We got up early Saturday morning to leave for Mobile, AL. The Cub Scouts were going to spend the night on the ship...how cool!!! They do not allow females on the ship after 8:00pm so, Jack and I stayed in the Battleship Inn while Mason and Dan stayed on the ship. I think I really got the better end of the stick!!

When we got there, we went straigt to the Berth's (bunks) to "stow" their gear. here are a few pictures of the berths.

Mason and Dan woke up EARLY Sunday morning...at 6:00 am. They came to the hotel and got Jack and I up. We ate breakfast, did a little exploring in Mobile and then hit the road.

We got back to Birmingham just in time for Jack's last t-ball game. I finally got a picture of him in his uniform looking all cute.

T-ball has been great for Jack this season! He has done really well and seemed to really enjoy it.

We are now starting Basketball for Mason with Upward. Jack wants to play basketball, but is still too young. Next year he will be able to play.
