Christmas activities

Well, we have seen a total of 3 Santa's this Christmas season. One was at Mason's school at Breakfast with Santa. All 4 of us went to see this pitiful Santa.

Our second "Santa encounter" was at McWane Center's Polar Express PJ party. This Santa was GREAT!
The kids got to dress in their Christmas PJs and we first watched Polar Express on the IMAX. Talk about up close and personal! We were basically laying on our backs with the movie inches (or so it felt) from our face. It was like sitting in the very front row at a regular movie theater. It took a little bit to get used to. Jack did much better than expected. I figured he and I would only be in there for about 15 minutes but he made it through the entire movie!! Thanks to the popcorn, skittles, raisins and other snacks I brought. When the food ran out, the attention span ran out. But the great thing was with everyone practically laying on their back and looking up, they never saw my child running around and acting up! Ha!

After the movie, they each got a bell...just like in the movie, then we moved into another room where Santa was waiting with milk, cookies and hot chocolate.

We even saw a friend of ours Harris and his brother Hayes and Mom Tama. We also got to play a little bit at McWane Center after seeing Santa.

Now onto Christmas morning. Just check out our living room before the boys got ahold of it. Can we just say "excess"?

And here the boys are running down the stairs to see what Santa has brought them. Then they moved onto the stockings and then presents. Jack LOVED his kitchen as you can see!!

Last, we made rice krispy treat houses and decorated them...after Christmas because Mommy forgot about them. You can see Jack and his house decorated and then Mason and his house decorated.

The Fitts family would like to wish everyone a Happy and Safe 2010!!

Where has the time gone??????

Oh my goodness how time flies when you are BUSY!!! That would be why you have not seen an update in FOREVER!! Shall we get updated since the last post? Well, we had Halloween which was a lot of fun with the Binkered's clan. We went to Libby's (Dan's Grandmother) house/neighborhood to trick or treat. Below if a picture of everyone. Mason was a vampire and Jack was a gorilla.

So the next big event was thanksgiving. Nana, Poppy and Grandma came to visit which was a lot of fun. We even had a chance to visit with some old family friends for dinner...Don and Martha Seibert. We miss Nana, Poppy and Grandma a bunch and wish they lived closer!!

Pictures are backwards...but we will all have to deal with it. As you know I am not too good at this blogging thing still.

Next we have the Helena Christmas Parade where Mason was going to walk in the parade...or so we thought. Instead Mason, Dan and Jack ended up riding in the Cub Scouts bus and I ENDED UP WALKING. How did I get the short end of the stick??? It turned out to be a lot of fun. Got to chat with friends who were walking with me and chat with other friends we saw along the way. Got a few pictures of the bus and the boys.

And to wrap things up, I am in full swing of Christmas cookie and candy making. Tonight I took on the challenge of Buckeye's. Man...now I know why I only make these every few years! They take on a life of their own when you are trying to mix the batter. And then you are rolling the batter into balls the next 1/2 of your life. And with the other 1/2 of your life, you are dipping the balls into chocolate. But boy are they worth it!! They are YUMMY and make great gifts. So, below are pictures of the men in my life rolling buckeye's. Just beware of the weird shaped ones...those are Jack's and he was licking his fingers as he went along. Don't worry to all you buckeye recipients...we kept those just for the family!

Tomorrow is Mason's birthday party which we are looking forward to! Skating party, here we come. But don't worry Dad, I will not be putting skates on these feet! Pictures to follow.....

Football is over!!!

Flag Football that is. Don't freak out all you football fans...Dan. So, now we are down to just one sport in the house...soon to be two again when Mason starts Basketball in December.

Now, let's talk about the soccer "situation" and Jack. We had a night game this past Monday to make up for a cancelled game earlier in the season. We played at 6:30 pm ...it was dark...and REALLY cold. All 3 of us were there to cheer him on this time...Dan, Mason and myself. He started out in his usual way being shy and not wanting to play. Then I told him if he plays we will go to McDonalds on our way home for an ice cream cone. (We had already eaten dinner). About 15 minutes into the game, something snapped in Jack. He all of a sudden....wait for it...wait for it....PLAYED SOCCER, ON THE FIELD, INDEPENDENTLY(not holding Dan's hand)!!! What?!?!? Is this our kid?!?!? Everyone on the sidelines, and I mean everyone, just stopped and watched in amazement. All of a sudden Jack really was the center of attention...and he was LOVING it!!! What happened??? Was it that Daddy was there? Was it that there was an ice cream cone at stake? Was it that it was a night game and not at the crack of dawn????? I wish I knew what it was and I would make sure that whatever motivated Jack would be there for him the next game. I guess we will see tomorrow morning when he has another game at 8:30 am. But at this night game, we could not keep him off the field. He for sure made up for lost time. And ask me...did I have my camera? Did I have my video camera? Of course not! I gave up two games ago of getting footage of him on the field actually playing. Laugh is on me! You better bet that I will have both camera's tomorrow morning just in case this one not a one time deal.

So, this weekend...we have a lot going on. Soccer game at 8:30, clean up at Cahaba Lily park for the Cub Scouts (Mason) from 8:00 to 11:30, birthday party for Mason's classmate at Cahaba Lily park from 11:00-1:00 (convenient!), home for naps, and finish weekend chores. Sunday we are riding the rails with the scouts. We are all going on a train ride to a pumpkin patch in Calera...walking distance to Dan's store. Should be fun. I think that is all we have planned for Sunday besides church.

Hope everyone out there has a great weekend. I will leave you with a few pictures of the boys at the Old Baker Farm in Harpersville, AL...my favorite place to get our pumpkins!

To Play or Not to Play...that is the question.

Well, here we are again...another soccer game...another non-soccer player. I am thinking of this as "experience" for Jack to see what team sports are all about. Maybe he will just observe this season and jump right in next season. Wishful thinking!!! This is my little sweetie pie in his uniform about to take the field...or not.

But this is actually what we got...and notice he is not even FACING the field!!!

Last night we went to see Mason perform/sing at the PTO meeting at school. 1/2 the first grade performed. I could not get very good pictures because of...well...you know my camera "situation". So I got some video that with fingers crossed, will show up on this stinkin blog.

Now, let's end this with a little "Jack Story", shall we? Jack and I had a standoff in the daycare parking lot today. As most of you know, he has had a few problems in the conduct department at school. My spirited little boy. HA! If he is on Green, that is good, Yellow - not so good, and red is REALLY bad. Well, I am thankfull to say that most days are green, but today was yellow. And for some reason, his afternoon teacher thought it was a good idea to let him pick something out of the treasure box. ??? What was she thinking? Anyway, he chose a wand of all things...because you know, he thinks he is a princess. Well, he ran out of the daycare to the car without holding my hand in the parking lot. Well, let's just say it was "game on" at that point. His stuborness agains mine. In the end I had to climb into the back of the van (in work clothes) and drag him out, looked around to see who was watching, and then pulled his pants down and gave him a spanking (as he is yelling I DON'T LIKE YOU MOMMY!), I then took him back into the dayacare so that we could give them BACK the wand that he picked out because I told him if I had to come get him, the wand was going back. I am a woman of my word! Then I put him in the wrestling hold to get him in his car seat. All the way home he SCREAMED "no" at me from the back seat while he was sobbing. After picking up Mason, we enter our neighborhood where we have this one house that has great big huge spiders on the side of their house (and I mean HUGE and real looking - ugh!!) that they pull out every year at Halloween. So, we are driving up to this house with Jack screaming/sobbing away and he stops long enough to say, just as normal as you please...no crying..."look at the spiders Mommy!" almost with a smile on his face. We pass the house and out comes the screaming and the sobbing. He is something!!!

It is a good thing he is so cute, otherwise he would still be locked in the closet right now! Hee hee! But just look at this face!

Is it bed time yet?!?!?! At least cocktail time?!?!

Libby and the floor

Saturday after Mason's flag football game, we went to Libby's house to visit with her. She just got home from a long stay in the hospital. Got a few pictures of her with the boys.

The boys love visiting Libby and I think she likes it equally as well. But, Libby only kept their interest for the first 10 minutes...that is where Dexter the dog came in. The boys spent the rest of the time chasing him around that little house. Poor dog!

As you can see, my camera STINKS!!! I am hoping for a new one for a Pre-Christmas Present...really....soon! Are you reading this Honey? Sweety pie?

Anywho...on with the weekend. After visiting with Libby, the boys and I went to lunch at Wendys, which by the way is where Mason always wants to go to lunch now because they give MUCH cooler toys than McDonalds OR Chick fil a. Just an FYI to all you Moms out there! Then after lunch, we went to a new jumpy place called iJump. It was a lot of fun and really wore the boys out! I had to keep them out of the house all day because Dan and our neighbor, Sam were working on our kitchen floor.

This was a picture from Friday night where Dan ripped up the old UGLY floor.

In the next few pictures, you will see where everything from the kitchen was stuffed into the dining room. The washer and dryer were wedged up against the stove where I could not cook all weekend. I know what you are thinking...oh darn!! Exactly...eating out all weekend. It got old by Sunday night though. Dan and Sam kept running into problems, so there is still a little bit of the floor that is left to be done. Hopefully will get finished up this weekend!

If you click on the picture, you can see it bigger...just FYI.

So check back in a few days to hopefully see the finished product.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Grease is the word!

Dan and I decided to get season tickets to the Broadway Series this year. First play was Grease with Taylor Hicks. It was GREAT! I had to refrain myself from singing along and doing all the hand motions to Grease Lighnin'!! It was a lot of fun and Dan and I enjoyed the night out alone.

And because I still am learning on Blogger, we have a picture of Mason in his Cub Scout uniform next to the Grease playbill.

When we got home we found out that Jack had given the babysitter, Ms. Jaq a hard time at bed time. We are going to have to work on that little Jack. He ran from Ms. Jaq at bedtime and screamed for an hour in his bed. I swear I am paying for Dan's childhood!

Now, take a good look at this ugly floor because hopefully it will be the last time you see it! We are in the final stages of re-doing our kitchen. Dan and our neighbor Sam are going to be working all weekend at putting our new floor in. I will post pictures of the new beautiful floor after we get our kitchen put back together.

I think the boys and I will make a visit to Dan's grandmother, Libby on Saturday on our way to McWane Center. She is home from a long stay at the hospital and we need things to do to keep out of the house and out of Dan's way.
